Description
Aloha Purple Sky Calibrachoa. Abstract. Original photograph manipulated with Photoshop Nik Collection and Topaz Simplify treatments.
Dark pink-violet to lighter violet-lavender blossoms cover the wiry stems of the Aloha Purple Sky million bells, cultivar 'Duealpursky'. This flower is a warm-season annual to frost-tender perennial with more upright stems that create more of a mounding plant rather than the usual spreading, sprawling growth habit. The flowers are slightly larger-sized flowers, more akin to petunias. These blossoms appear prolifically across the growing season, with multiple color shades on each blossom, including a yellow throat in each tubular, trumpet-like flower.
Heat-loving and everblooming, million bells grow best in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Aloha Series plants are a bit more forgiving of non-acidic soil types. They should be fed regularly and do not require deadheading but bloom better into autumn if they are lightly trimmed back in late summer to rejuvenate. These colorful bedding plants are perfect for containers, hanging baskets and border edges.
