The Autumn harvest is the time of the year to gather, reap, and store the crops (harvest). Colors are typical of fall. Browns, oranges, tans, yellows, gold, and some greens. Here a lovely wicker basket with indian corn, pumpkins, and several different gourds represent fall, and the Autumn harvest.

Flint corn, or Indian corn, is one of the oldest varieties of corn, a type that Native Americans taught the early colonists how to cultivate. Its kernels, which come in a range of colors including white, blue and red, have “hard as flint” shells, giving this type of corn its name.

At gourd is a hard-shelled fruit of any of various plants, especially those of Lagenaria siceraria (white-flowered gourd or bottle gourd) whose dried shell is used for bowls and other utensils, and Cucurbita pepo (yellow-flowered gourd) used ornamentally.

A pumpkin is a large rounded orange-yellow fruit with a thick rind, edible flesh, and many seeds. Recognized as a symbol of Halloween.
