Lenticular Clouds at Sunset 1. Manipulated slightly to enhance Dramatic effect.
These lenticular clouds were captured on Sept. 30, 2018, from Orange County, CA., looking east toward Riverside County. This dramatic cloud appearance is unique in our area. The appearance the these lens-like, Saucer-shaped clouds really captured attention.
Lenticular clouds (Altocumulus lenticularis in Latin) are stationary clouds that form in the troposphere, typically in perpendicular alignment to the wind direction. They are often comparable in appearance to a lens or saucer.
There are three main types of lenticular clouds: altocumulus standing lenticular (ACSL), stratocumulus standing lenticular (SCSL), and cirrocumulus standing lenticular (CCSL), varying in altitude above the ground. Because of their unique appearance, they have been brought forward as an explanation for some unidentified flying object (UFO) sightings.

MY ARTWORK: I work in photography and watercolor painting. As you can see from my many Collections/Galleries, I see art and beauty in a wide variety of subjects. My interests vary from natural scenes including unaltered landscapes, to macro photography, to odd and unusual objects (some of which are hard to identify in photos - thus creating interest), to highly digitized abstract art. If you are in need of something special, or see something that you would like altered to fit your decor/style, please send me a private message or e-mail me through this site. If you have any problems on how to mat and frame a print, or have questions on the selection of print finishes available, please e-mail me through this site. You can follow...
