Description
Rusty Miners Lantern Abstract 1.
While visiting Irvine Regional Park, in Orange County, CA., I stopped to visit a replica of a mining site and found this rusty lantern. The old rotted wood combined with the shades and colors of rust and the metals of the lamp caught my eye and my camera.
A mining lamp is a lamp, developed for the rigid necessities of underground mining operations. This is an old lantern which is carried into the mining area.Portable acetylene gas lamps, worn on the hat or carried by hand, were widely used in mining in the early twentieth century. They are still employed by cavers, hunters, and cataphiles.
Irvine Park in Orange, California is a 160-acre park that became Orange County's first regional park in 1897. It includes architecture by Frederick Eley. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
