Description
A Cedar Waxwing is enjoying a winter red berry on a bush in our yard.
December in Southern California, 2015 is attracting a host of wintering birds, due in part, to our warm weather we have had. The Cedar Waxwing is a sleek, crested, brown bird, larger than a house sparrow. The Waxwing has yellow on the belly, white undertail, and a bright yellow band at the base of the tail. Their habitat is open woodlands, fruiting trees, and orchards. They fly and feed in compact flocks.
