Dragonfly resting on green bush.
This dragonfly was on the pavement, and I thought he was dead. I moved him to this bush and while taking pictures, he started to move his head. I moved him to a princess lily plant as well. Eventually, he ate a bug, regained his strength and flew away.
A dragonfly is an insect belonging to the order Odonata, suborder Anisoptera, because the hindwing is broader than the forewing. The dragonfly is agile in-flight and able to move in all six directions, at up to 45 miles per hour. It can hover like a helicopter, yet fly backwards like a hummingbird, fly straight up, down, or to either side. Adult dragonflies are characterized by large multifaceted eyes, two pairs of strong transparent wings, sometimes with colored patches, and an elongated body.
