Limestone Canyon rock formations.
Prized for its beauty, unusual geology and extraordinary diversity of flora and fauna, these Limestone Canyon geological formations are called the “Sinks” and are frequently compared to a miniature Grand Canyon. It is an 8-mile round trip hike to the "Sinks", but this portion is visible from the 161 Toll Road.
The Sinks are located within a spectacular and lush 5,500-acre area canyon includes thick oak woodlands, streamside habitats, year-round springs and these iconic geological formations. A rich diversity of plants and animals as well as an unusual variety of natural habitats make Limestone a true favorite among hikers, mountain bikers and naturalists of all types. Registration is required for docent-led programs due to the area’s sensitive habitat, but all programs are free.
