Description
Orb Weaver in Full Web.
A busy Orb Weaver spider spins away, building its web. Here it appears the web is finished, and the spider is waiting for dinner.
A spider web, spiderweb, spider's web, or cobweb is a structure created by a spider out of proteinaceous spider silk extruded from its spinnerets, generally meant to catch its prey. The Orb Weaver spider comes in a variety of colors and patterns, but their spiral shaped webs and rounded abdomen help in identify this helpful garden spider. The web is sticky and easy to get caught in. Orb Weavers spin a new web every night. They hunt and many insects includes mosquitoes, which can help keep the mosquito population down and help control garden pests.
