Description
Waterwheel 1.
While visiting Irvine Regional Park, in Orange County, CA., I stopped to visit a replica of a mining site which featured a Waterwheel, or watermill. I was intrigued by the dancing water and splash forms from the fall of the water off of the the Headrace (the plank that leads the water to the wheel). The sun just happened to be in the right position and the lighting of the water and droplets were wonderful.
A water wheel is a machine for converting the energy of flowing or falling water into useful forms of power, often in a watermill. A water wheel consists of a wheel, with a number of blades or buckets arranged on the outside rim forming the driving surface.
Irvine Park in Orange, California is a 160-acre park that became Orange County's first regional park in 1897. It includes architecture by Frederick Eley. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
